Basic First Aid
Aim:
To provide Basic First Aid training to meet your specific needs.
Training Objectives: On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Recognise First Aid emergencies
- Provide necessary first aid treatment within the workplace etc
- Understand and demonstrate essential life saving skills
Course Syllabus:
- Responsibilities of First Aiders
- Scene Management
- Principles of treatment
- Patient Assessment: (Primary and Secondary Surveys)
- CPR & use of an AED (Defibrillator)
- CPR and AED practical
- Recovery position
- Blood and the circulation System
- Heart Attack
- Stroke
- Wounds and Bleeding including the application of Dressings and Bandages
- Respiratory Emergencies including choking and Asthma
- Altered levels of consciousness incl fainting, seizures etc.
- Shock including its recognition and treatment
- Musculoskeletal Injuries: Fractures, Sprains, Strains and Dislocations
- Head injuries including compression, concussion and factures
- Allergic reactions including Anaphylactic shock
- Burns, scalds and Bites
- Poisoning, Electrocution

Course Duration: 1 day
Certification: All successful candidates will receive a certificate valid for a period of 2 years.
